Co-design Projects

We believe in the power of collaboration to tackle complex challenges and promote transparency, democratic participation, and access to information. Co-design is our approach to combining different skills to build innovative and sustainable solutions.

The Openpolis Foundation has gained extensive experience in strategic partnerships, taking on roles such as lead partner and Work Package leader in national projects, and as country lead and Work Package leader in European and international projects. We collaborate with institutions, research bodies, civil society organizations, and businesses, using public data and advanced analysis and advocacy tools to create tangible and positive impacts.

If you share these goals, we invite you to contact us and explore new collaboration opportunities together.

Data analysis and research

We carry out in-depth data analysis, even at a local level, on geographical features, socio-educational conditions, services, and other political and social topics, including comparative perspectives. We define effective methodological frameworks starting from available data mapping and contextual reconstruction. Desk analysis is enriched with qualitative and quantitative surveys (community profiles) to gain a deeper understanding of the area and target population, engaging key actors such as schools and local associations.

Co-design of public services

We support Public Administrations in the design or redesign of services, using data analysis and participatory approaches to develop solutions that are effective, efficient, and citizen-centered (data-driven approach).

Stakeholder mapping and engagement

We identify and map key stakeholders (public, private, research, and third sector) and facilitate their active participation in collaborative decision-making processes, in line with national and European frameworks on shared administration, strategic co-planning, and co-decision.

Development of platforms and digital tools
We develop custom digital solutions to make public data more accessible and navigable: thematic websites, data dashboards, databases, maps, and interactive charts. We promote open data downloads for reuse by analysts, journalists, citizens, and professionals.

Public policy monitoring and evaluation
We design and implement systems to monitor and evaluate the full policy cycle: from needs assessment and legislative process analysis to implementation and impact tracking. We assess the effectiveness of policies and reforms (such as the NRRP) using rigorous data and methodologies to provide evidence for debate and decision-making.

Project monitoring
We support project implementation by collecting continuous and systematic information on goal achievement, both in terms of process (timelines, resources used) and output (e.g. number of stakeholders involved, local networks activated), to enable constant oversight and timely adjustments.

Social Impact Assessment (SIA)
We carry out Social Impact Assessments (SIA) using rigorous methodologies and recognized standards to measure the social changes generated by projects and initiatives, particularly in the third sector.

Information and investigative reporting
We produce quality information and data journalism content to enhance public debate, support investigations (including cross-border ones with media and international networks), and raise awareness on specific issues.

Communication and dissemination
We develop multichannel communication strategies (social media, newsletters, media partnerships) and content for scientific, institutional, or public dissemination, also through dedicated ICT platforms, to reach diverse audiences.

Advocacy and civic engagement
We facilitate the involvement of interest communities and dialogue with stakeholders to identify needs, critical issues, and solutions (through roundtables, workshops, events). We take clear positions on key issues and run targeted advocacy campaigns, presenting data-driven demands to decision-makers.

Community activation and empowerment
We promote local community activation and empowerment through communities of practice that connect diverse actors to share knowledge and solutions, and through citizen science initiatives that involve people in data collection and analysis.

Training
We design and deliver courses, workshops, and training paths for professionals (journalists, third sector workers, public officials) on digital skills, data analysis and access, data journalism, transparency, and civic monitoring to strengthen their professional competencies.

Education
We develop educational programs to improve students’, teachers’, and educators’ media and data literacy, using data journalism and civic monitoring. We teach how to collect data from reliable sources, process, analyze, and interpret them to foster critical awareness and active citizenship.
