The phenomenon of immigration is one of the most crucial and controversial in this historical phase and is often at the center of political debate in Italy, with ideological positions lacking concrete foundations.

With this awareness, together with Action Aid Italia, we created Centri d’Italia, maps of reception, a freely accessible platform from which it is possible to download detailed data on the reception system for asylum seekers and refugees in Italy. Territory by territory, it is possible to know the types of centers, available places, occupancy, operators, and daily prices.

We collected, organized, and analyzed data from tenders and public contracts related to reception and made the information available through reports and data journalism content. We submitted numerous requests for access to documents to the government via  FOIA requests, appeals, and even legal disputes in court, to obtain the data and compensate for the lack of information from the institutions managing the reception system in Italy.
